Group fitness classes are available for women, senior adults and coeds. Times will vary as well as skill levels, so whether this is your first time or you're a seasoned fitness addict our group fitness classes are for you.

 

Our weight and cardio area offers weight machines, ellipticals, precors, and recumbent bikes. Catch the latest news or some of your favorite programming on one of the televisions.

 

Need a place to walk or run? Our 9 foot wide track, elevated above the gym floor, allows for plenty of elbow room. And the 17 laps (equivalent to 1 mile) will breeze by in no time.

 

OCC Group Fitness Class Descriptions

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

 

Step in Faith/Pilates Core:

Fat burning cardiovascular workout that uses the step and the word of God to keep you motivated.  Pilates Core strengthens the abdominals and prevents and heals lower back pain.

 

Senior Strength:

This class offers seated and standing strength, endurance and stretching exercises.  Upper and lower body strength work using hand held weights, tubing with handles, resistance bands and a ball.  A chair is offered for support.  This class is designed to increase strength, flexibility and range of movement and activity for daily living.  This strength training class is great for new mothers as well as those recovering from an injury.

 

Cardio Soul & Strength:

Come have a soul changing experience while blasting away unwanted fat and increasing your cardiovascular and

muscular endurance.  A total body workout that incorporates hand held weights, body bars, stability ball and resistance tubing. Core work for the abdominals, spine and low back will end the class.

 

Strength & Core:

This class will include upper & lower body strength training using dumbbells, weighted bars and tubing.  Core work will use stability balls & small weighted balls.

 

Pilates Mat:

The perfect spirit, mind and body workout! Concentration is on the core postural muscles to gain and maintain a healthy

spine and back.  Engage your muscles, mind and spirit for a total body transformation.  Modifications are included for all

fitness levels.  Pilates is also an excellent way to stay in shape before, during and post pregnancy!

 

Pilates Ball:

Increase your strength, balance and flexibility, with the fusion of Pilates moves on the ball to enhance stability and balance with every move.  Concentration is on the power house (abdominals) muscles and spine. Transform the way your body looks, feels and performs.

 

 

 

Kay Kamuf

Zumba Instructor

 

Kay Kamuf is a member of Owensboro Christian Church and a certified Zumba instructor.  When Zumba was first introduced to the Owensboro area Kay knew in her heart that God had called her to teach this high energy cardio class as a form of worship to glorify him.  Kay believes that we are to worship God with dancing as Psalm 149:3 beautifully states. "Let them praise his name with dancing."
She will also teach Zumba Gold to the active older adults who want to have fun and enjoy dancing and moving while worshipping him.  Kay will be using Latin and Christian music to motivate you to exercise.  Kay began instructing Zumba classes in January of 2008 at the Rec Center. 

 

 

Zumba

Zumba is a high energy cardio class that incorporates unique moves and motivating Latin & Christian music.  Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning.  It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow steps.

 

 

Zumba Gold

Zumba Gold is a dynamic cardio class for older adults or for those with limited mobility who want a unique cardio workout that is high energy and lots of fun.
